Day 1 –

  • Short introduction of SAMSI
  • Overview of the types of NMR instrumentation
  • Time Domain NMR – what can be measured?
  • Basic principles of NMR technique
  • Bruker the minispec – available configurations and features
  • Most common TD NMR applications for QA and R&D
  • BCA analysis by Bruker LF series instruments

Day 2 –

  • Sample preparation and positioning
  • Practical exercises on Bruker the minispec:
    • Checking the instrument status
    • “Daily check” and “Update settings” routines
    • Solid Fat Content analysis (SFC)
    • Calibration routine for total moisture content
    • T1 sand T2 Relaxation time analysis
  • Basic maintenance, dismounting of RF probe, sample height adjustment
  • What to check if the minispec does not seem to work normally (troubleshooting guide).
  • Accessories: temperature control options, autosampler, gradient unit, balance

You will also have an opportunity to discuss any of your own TD-NMR issues or feasibility questions, possibility to develop optimized applications for your ongoing and future projects.

Info about the course:
The course will be held at SAMSI’s office at Rosenholm Campus
(13 min. from Oslo central station by train, line L2 to Ski, get out at the station “Rosenholm”).

The course will start on Monday 25.09 at 09:00 and will be ended on Tuesday 26.09 at 15:00.


The participation fee is 9 900 NOK ex VAT for both days, and this will include lunch, coffee/snacks/fruits and printed material.


The deadline for signing up to the course is 15.09. Deadline for cancelation is 20.09. Cancelations after 20.09 will be fully invoiced unless we are able to fill the seat with another attendant.
We have a possibility of a maximum of 16 attendees and if the course is fully booked the people who first signed up will be prioritized.

If fewer than 4 participants, we will unfortunately have to cancel it.
